Job Description

Join GAAMHA as a Green Care Clinician (GCC)

Are you inspired by the idea of transforming lives through human-animal interaction and using the natural environment as a therapeutic setting? At GAAMHA, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, we believe everyone deserves access to compassionate, innovative care. Our R.O.O.T.S. (Resilient ~ Optimistic ~ Open-Minded ~ Thriving ~ Serene) program combines evidence-based therapy with the healing power of the natural world to support adolescents and young adults on their journey toward resilience and well-being.

Why Join GAAMHA?

At GAAMHA, you’re not just taking on a job—you’re embracing a calling. We are dedicated to uplifting individuals and communities by providing support that truly changes lives. Joining our team means becoming part of a compassionate, purpose-driven organization that values dignity, innovation, and connection.

Your Role: A Catalyst for Change

As a Green Care Clinician (GCC), you’ll harness the therapeutic power of nature and animals at Evergreen Grove—a livestock rescue and therapeutic farm in Gardner, MA. Your work will empower youth aged 12–24 who are facing challenges related to substance use and mental health disorders.

What You’ll Achieve

· Transform Lives: Partner with animals to provide evidence-based therapy that helps youth discover resilience and thrive.

· Innovate with Nature: Use care farming and nature-based practices to enhance traditional therapy in a non-traditional, therapeutic setting.

· Foster Compassionate Care: Prioritize the well-being of both clients and animals, ensuring interactions are safe, respectful, and therapeutic.

· Empower Through Support: Guide youth with individualized treatment plans, counseling, and case management, always centering their goals and progress.

· Promote Excellence: Maintain detailed records, participate in multidisciplinary meetings, and uphold the highest ethical and professional standards.

· Be a Voice for Good: Represent GAAMHA with authenticity and compassion, embodying our mission of service and connection.

What Sets You Apart

· A bachelor’s degree in mental health counseling or a related field, preference is given to candidates who hold active license/certification (CADC/LADC, LMHC, LSW, LICSW etc.)

· At least 1 year of experience working with youth or young adults navigating substance use or mental health challenges.

· A belief in and commitment to multiple pathways to recovery, including MAT/MOUD.

· A background in Animal-Assisted Services, Equine Therapy, or working with livestock preferred.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the cultural humility to meet clients where they are.

· Proficiency in MS Office, compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and a valid driver’s license.

· Lived experience in recovery (minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety) is welcomed.

What You Can Expect

· An opportunity to bring your altruistic spirit to a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a tangible, lasting impact.

· A role where your work directly improves the lives of vulnerable youth and strengthens the fabric of our community.

· A supportive team of like-minded individuals committed to innovation, compassion, and measurable outcomes.

Who You’ll Support

You’ll work directly with participants in the R.O.O.T.S. program under the guidance of the R.O.O.T.S. Program Director.

How to Apply

If you’re looking for a chance to give back and make a real difference, we invite you to join GAAMHA. Help us continue to redefine care and support for youth by using nature, connection, and compassion as tools for healing.
